Scarlett's Baptism

We had a wonderful time in the city on Sunday celebrating with sister (-in-law) and brother-in-law Rebecca and Adam Ferranti, the baptism of Miss Scarlett Grace Ferranti. I'm loving being an aunt, although we don't see each other as often as we would wish. It's so wonderful that we will be in her life for so many moments and milestones, bapstims being only one of them, but a very significant one. You say along with the congregation that we will support Becca and Adam in raising Scarlett to know the Lord. And yet, of all the people in the room it is us, her family, who will walk alongside her and help point her to Jesus, as we strive to live our lives to His glory, and raise our own children to that end too.
Sunday was especially fun for us since it was the first time Scarlett and Naomi mutually enjoyed each other's company. We're hoping to get a play date for the two of them soon. It's a sweet, sweet thing to have a cousin close in age---I was so grateful for that growing up too.
Thought I'd throw a picture in of Naomi's dedication which was oh-so-long ago (April 29). She and Scarlett were just about the same age at their baptism/dedication so thought it might be fun to compare pictures. Scarlett has way more hair than Naomi did at that time and still does now!

And a few more photos just because...

Sober Naomi playing the mandolin. She loves it when Tucker plays and wants to be a part of it. Tucker's getting pretty good, Naomi remains a novice.

Berry picking with her buddy Owen Hubbard. Owen is a berry monger. Naomi prefers gumming her "O"s

This is one of the best pictures of her from the Adirondacks this summer. We were on a mini hike (walking up and down stream, stopping for a tan) and I forgot her hat (and she is not a huge fan of them anyway) so wanted to protect her little baldish scalp so put on this bandana and it was adorable!
Little sobersides but oh so cute with the bow. We were out at a cafe in Fairfield with grandma.

Mommy and Naomi. She had a blast at Senor Panchos the Friday of Labor Day weekend en route to the Catskills. She loves music so was thrilled there were mariachi players so shook her egg shakers like crazy!

Time Does Fly!

Hard to believe it is already October and that Naomi is one week shy of being a 10 month old little lady. She finally started to crawl last Monday and is now scooting around our living room getting into all kinds of trouble with the coffee table, her push stroller, garbage cans and daddy's mandolin. Looking at the pictures from May (from our last post..oops), it's astonishing how much weight Naomi has lost, how much hair she's grown, how some clothes still fit and others are long packed away. She has progressed in the world of eating since May (when she couldn't digest even her rice cereal!)---she loves fruit---figs, raspberries, pears (can eat them all with her fingers), but she loves her veggies even more...peas, peas and more peas!...she likes bread (soda bread, pumpking bread) and ate her first buttermilk pancakes yesterday :) she even says an unprompted "miam!" while gumming them down (no teeth yet) ---I suppose that some words and expressions just come to us humans naturally (crying, laughing, miam, dada, mama) and it is only later that we create the words and meanings associated with them. It has been such a joy to watch Naomi develop and grow....the little daily changes, so subtle it seems hard to put a date to a milestone. Her life is fluid, daily, continuous. Others who see her less often will comment "oh, she has so much hair now" "oh, she sits up, when did she start doing this?" ...I sheepishly say "oh, I'm not sure.. a while now?? ... " I'm her mom. I see it all...the good, bad, icky and it's all precious, beautiful and it is flying by. So, here are some pictures. Naomi's mom and dad are doing fine too :) you'll see them in a few pictures too! The latest, most exciting news is that Jonathan and Charlotte are engaged!!! Yippee!!! We are so excited for them. You will not see them in any photos since they are living in Nicaragua until December when we eagerly await their return! Enjoy the pics. - Naomi at her first soccer game (Sept 17), Naomi at her first raspberry picking(Sept 20), Naomi's first tea party with grandma, aunt Jorie, great aunts Marsha and Brenda (August), Naomi's first trip to the zoo with grammy (Sept 22)and granola Naomi with dad in the Adirondacks (August)
