Enjoying my Naomi

I am having so much fun being Naomi's mom. She is learning in leaps and bounds and it's a blast. I've been speaking French to her (and attempting to only speak French to her) since March 1 and she is really catching on. She's starting to understand more and more and I find we are building on our vocab by the hour! Tonight I was reading "Petit Poisson Blanc" to her about a little white fish looking for his mom and each page ask "Is this the fish's mommy?" And we say "no" and tonight she really got into the "non" and shook her head and "oui" when it was the mom. And she's been counting this week "un, deux" when we're in the elevator going up and down and when we count to "trois" and go "kaboom" and flop on the bead. We giggle and do it over and over again and it is the most fun thing! She walking like a pro these days and almost running, she gets going so fast. She's just a little joy to Tucker and I and it's hard to capture it...I suppose it's a parent's joy and memory. We enjoyed the amazing weather this week by going to the beach on Saturday to have our first picnic of the season with friends Chris and Amy Stroup and little Micah who just turned one. Tucker and I are just also really enjoying our marriage...it feels like finally life with Naomi is more settled so we can feel like adults and a couple and be slightly less focused about Naomi. I suppose we're finding our groove more and more. Perhaps it's time for #2? Or perhaps it's time to just enjoy our family of three and enjoy this phase of life, because it is a lot of fun! Pictures are from this week: At the beach, at the park with Grammy (at swinging all on my own!), eating a HUGE sugar cookie we got from the "boulangerie", eating a banana "nana" toute seule!, and just looking pretty in her church clothes today :)

Easter Fun

March 23, 2008
We had a lovely Easter this year with the Curries. There were eight adults, 2 little girls and one dog in attendance. Polly organized a cute egg hunt in the back yard with colored plastic eggs lining the property. She filled each egg with black-eyed peas so that they were little shakers. Naomi "found" one or two and was happy to just sit and make music with the shakers. Scarlett was led all around and Becca filled her basket. In the end, disappointed that the girls showed little interest in collecting their alloted 12 eggs (each), Polly went around a picked up her eggs and declared the hunt "fini." Perhaps next year they will show more interest in gathering; right now we have two content little cousins is pretty dresses. Here are some pictures. You might also notice that I cut my hair (on March 20). I got 7 inches off and it feels great. Still figuring out how to style it, but it's been a really refreshing change. Hopefully I'll get some better pictures soon that really shows what it looks like. Also note that Naomi LOVES mommy's fruit tart! She ate a whole piece that day and the next and would have gobbled up more if we'd let her. The last picture is Naomi with a little purse in tow. It's really our camera case, but she thinks she is ready for "accessories!" We shall see...

Another first, and last for the time being!

Naomi's First Kiss was memorable- on Feb 20 her little beau, Owen Hubbard gave her a real smooch...caught us all by surprise, but fortunately he was willing to do it again and again for the camera! We had a nice visit by great aunts (Brenda and Tricia) and uncle (Mark) and cousins (Martha and Becca Davis) in February, a trip to the Catskills with friends and babes in March and a trip to Pennsylvania for Emily (Houtz) Weiler's baby shower/visit to Beth Trevino that same month. So it's been an eventful few months for Naomi and her parents! Here are some pictures, including our anniversary get-away weekend in the Berkshires (Feb 15).

Voyage a Londres!

Before I get Easter and spring pictures up, I wanted to show you some highlights of recent months, such as first trip abroad (to London in December/January) ...picture with dear friend Alison Paton by London Eye, Paul, Eleanor and Reuben Every-Clayton (who we went over to meet!), and Naomi at Rosetta Stone and Harrods on crash visit to downtown London!
